ASUS UL30VT-X1K Thin And Light Cheap Deals Reviewed by ubat (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
I was captivated if I removed the Asus UL30VT-X1K from its box and set it up. For a third of the price, it seemed as good, if not better, than the top-of-the-line 13.3″ Sony Vaio that had died on me afterwards a simple year and a bisected of use, and no abuse.
Beautiful 13.3″ LED screen, acceptable specs — fast, energy-saving processor, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB harder drive, amalgam cartoon card, absurd array activity — and the chiclet keyboard I’d abstruse to use and adulation in my Vaio? It seemed perfect. Except for one slight glitch: the Intel cartoon chipset bootless afterwards 72 hours. Diagnosing the botheration was simple enough; acclimation it was not. I alternate the laptop to Amazon activity angrily let down and disappointed. I’d appear so abutting to award a backup for my Vaio and it had collapsed through in such a big way. (One observation: Amazon refunded me with no delays or arguments.)
Call me an asinine optimist, but I wasn’t about to address ASUS off so easily. In the bare 72 hours I’d fiddled with the UL30VT, I’d absolutely admired it. I aswell accepted that, no amount how accurate superior ascendancy can be (in this case, both ASUS and Intel’s), flukes will happen. And accustomed my history — you don’t wish to apperceive –, they will usually appear to me… So what did I do? I got myself an identical replacement.
I accustomed it, set it up and began the admission to failure. To my delight, it didn’t happen. Two messed up units would accept quenched any optimism and blacklisted ASUS to me ’til hell froze over… As the canicule passed, I rebuilt my assurance in the cast and absolutely began to use this little apparatus for all it is worth.
The botheration with me is, not just any laptop will do. What I attending for:
* Low weight — I biking a lot and can’t lug advance artery around. At 3.8 lbs., it’s as acceptable as it gets for a apparatus with its specs.
* An AC that doesn’t attending and counterbalance like addition advance brick. This one is a lot abate and lighter than agnate machines’, and with a continued cord.
* Fast processing, with affluence of RAM — I adapt photos, aforementioned as addition annoyed reviewer.
* A big abundant awning (over 12.1″), abundant quality-wise.
* Generous accumulator space.
* Bluetooth and wireless.
* A comfortable, ergonomic, able-bodied laid out keyboard, because besides alteration photos I aswell address a lot.
* Off-board cartoon agenda or a amalgam cartoon solution, for accessible reasons.
* As abounding USB ports as can fit on the laptop. This one has three, not bad at all for its admeasurement (the Vaio alone had two, hah).
* A apparatus that is adorable to the eye and nice to blow is a bonus.
The UL30VT has it all. Plus a webcam + mic, which I may end up application some day. And it is beautifully thin, demography up little amplitude in my backpack.
What I don’t need:
* A trackpad, because I consistently use a mouse.
* A DVD / CD drive. I can install or aback up to an alien harder drive or my network.
* Shiny surfaces. Yes, this apparatus has them all over. They accomplish it sleeker, but not easier to advance fingerprint-free. I can reside with that.
The UL30VT absolutely is a amusement to plan with. It is responsive, quick, able and didn’t appear with too abundant cast bloatware — actual little, in fact, compared to Sony and HP machines. I accept Turbo approach on all the time, and demography no energy-saving measures will accord me about 5 hours of array time with no apparent lag in performance. If I accomplish an accomplishment to amplitude it by accomplishing all the things ASUS recommends, the array lasts over 10 hours. I accept never had a laptop with such an absorbing array life. The Kindle for PC software was aswell a nice little touch. I can see myself account on the computer’s actual bright screen, but added than that, getting able to haversack my bird acreage adviser in the computer’s harder drive and not in my haversack — this is the alone Kindle download I’ve fabricated so far — is very, actual handy.
The ASUS UL30VT is absolutely conceived to be portable. It balances backpack and assets actual well, giving me the best of both worlds for a amount that seems added than reasonable. I am actual blessed that I gave ASUS a additional chance.
